Agenda 2030: Article 4: Quality Education
Goal 4 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda addresses a core value for Mus-e Cyprus: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
In particular, Mus-e Cyprus fully supports target 4.1:
By 2030, ensure that every girl and boy enjoy free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education, leading to appropriate and concrete learning outcomes.
Quality education is the foundation for improving people's lives and achieving sustainable development. Fortunately, in Cyprus, primary education is a right for all boys and girls, but much remains to be done, especially in some areas, for schools to be truly inclusive.
For many children, especially foreigners, learning Greek is a long and time-consuming process: the difficulty of communicating with classmates and teachers often leads to frustration and low self-esteem. In this sense, the journey undertaken with Mus-e helps children express themselves through art, a universal language that knows no boundaries: children feel more understood, more valued, and gradually open up to the classroom and the world around them.
Furthermore, art, and the extensive expertise of Mus-e artists, also intervenes in contexts where inclusion concerns more or less severe forms of disability: with sensitivity and patience, children are guided on a journey of self-discovery, of their bodies, and of their emotions, also involving their classmates and teachers.
We are convinced that art, in all its forms, must complement the traditional school curriculum to ensure a truly high-quality education, helping children develop the transversal skills that will be essential for their future.
- Continuously train Mus-e artists to ensure the highest level of preparation, following the most advanced pedagogical standards.
- Intensify our work in schools, especially in the most marginalized areas, small villages, and isolated territories.
- Involve children's families more closely to support their children's education.
